Overview of customer assignment
For content such as catalogues, price lists, or article number lists to apply to a customer, they must be actively assigned.
Customer assignment is therefore the central control for:
- which products a customer sees
- which prices apply
- which additional information is used
Without customer assignment, content cannot be used.
Options for customer assignment
You can flexibly combine content and assign it to your customers.
Typical scenarios:
- one catalogue for one customer
- one catalogue for several customers
- several catalogues for one customer
- one catalogue with an individual price list
- several catalogues with one or more price lists
Examples:
- standard catalogue for all customers
- additional promotional catalogue for selected customers
- individual prices via price lists with the same assortment
In principle:
- catalogues can be assigned to one or more customers
- price lists can be assigned to one or more customers
Recommendation: Keep the structure as simple as possible to maintain an overview.
Rules for customer assignment
The following basic rules apply when handling customer assignments:
- a customer assignment is mandatory on initial upload
- content is not active without an assignment
- existing customer assignments are retained during updates
This means:
- you only need to assign content once
- no renewed assignment is necessary for updates
Pricing logic in connection with customer assignment
The platform uses the following logic to determine prices:
No price list available:
Prices are taken from the catalogue
Price list available
Prices are taken from the price list
Price list incomplete
Articles in both sources → price from the price list
Remaining articles → price from the catalogue
Several price sources
Best-price logic applies
The lowest price from the dominant source is displayed
Price Web Service
Prices are retrieved in real time
No conflicts between price sources
Open and closed area at the same time
The closed catalogue takes priority
Assigned price lists take precedence
Customers always see the prices from the closed area
Logic for customer article numbers
Customer article numbers can likewise be provided via the catalogue or a separate list.
The following applies:
No list available
Customer article numbers from the catalogue are used
List available
Customer article numbers from the list are used
List incomplete
Existing articles → number from the list
Remaining articles → number from the catalogue
In addition:
- only one customer article number list can be assigned per customer
- a list can be assigned to several customers
Customer numbers and default customer number
Assigning customer numbers is essential for processing orders.
Individual customer number
- can be assigned per customer
- corresponds to your internal customer number
- is transmitted with orders
- can be adjusted at any time
Multiple customer numbers
- possible in addition to the main customer number
- relevant for follow-up documents
- the main customer number is always used in orders
Default customer number
- is used when no individual customer number is stored
- is used for all orders via the open marketplace
This ensures:
- every order contains a customer number
- processes in your systems work reliably
